Jeong Jae-Ryong, Head of Derivatives Monitoring Team, Financial Supervisory Service

Jeong Jae-Ryong is in charge of monitoring derivatives products and markets in the Korea’s Financial Supervisory Service. In particular, he is working on the establishment, operation and oversight of the Financial Market Infrastructures such as Central Counterparty, Trade Repository in terms of the OTC derivatives, etc. Prior to coming to the Derivatives Monitoring Team, he was in charge of the international cooperation with foreign financial authorities as well as international communities such as IMF, World Bank, international credit rating agencies as a team head for two years. He has fluent experience in international affairs such as participating in IOSCO meetings and joining the Working Groups of Joint Forum, and preparing its consultative reports. Also, he worked in many other different securities works on investigation and enforcement against capital markets’ abuses, supervision on collective investment schemes, the examination of securities-related entities and intermediaries. In particular, he was one of the staff in charge of the overhaul and developed and assessed the need of a number of new securities rules.

He began his supervisory career at the Securities Supervisory Board in 1989. He obtained a master's degree of financial economics at Sogang University in Korea and a master's degree of finance at Michigan State University in the U.S.
