Phuong Trinh, General Counsel, FIA Asia
Phuong Trinh is the General Counsel of FIA Asia. She is currently based in Singapore. FIA Asia is the primary industry association in the region for the exchange traded and centrally cleared derivatives industry. Trinh is responsible for leading and managing the legal, policy and regulatory agenda for the association.
She was previously Head of Legal, Asia Pacific for the ICAP plc group working in both Hong Kong and Singapore. In that role, she was responsible for the legal function which provided support to all of ICAP’s Asia Pacific businesses (including in Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Australia, India, China, Indonesia and Thailand). Prior to joining the ICAP plc group, Trinh worked in private practice for leading Australian law firms, Clayton Utz and McCullough Robertson across the corporate and banking and finance practice groups.
In September 2015, Trinh was recognised in the inaugural “40 Under 40” list selected by Asian Legal Business. The list highlights prominent lawyers in Asia under the age of 40 who are involved in important deals, key disputes and other work.
She is a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in Australia. She studied abroad at Sapporo University, Japan for one year and holds a Masters of Laws (LLM), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of International Business from the Queensland University of Technology.
